Story Tales with Jack
Bring your children to read with our awesome reading dog, Jack!
Jack is in the library each month; contact the library at 940-393-0290 for the next available date!

Learning to read is a unique process for every child. Oftentimes, fear of failure or mistakes can impede a child’s process, creating an aversion to reading. Story Tails with Jack is a program designed to provide children with a relaxed, non-judgmental reading environment that allows them to read at their own pace. The anticipation of reading to a sweet and lovable dog often replaces dread with excitement, opening young minds to learning and new experiences.

Certified through R.E.A.D., Jack and his handler will listen attentively as your child practices reading. This program is ideal for emerging or struggling readers, or even as a reward for enthusiastic readers who would enjoy a reward for their hard work! Jack visits the library every month, so call today to set up your 15-minute reading spot!

Otaku Club (Anime/Manga Club)
Meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
The Decatur Public Library is happy to announce that we have started an anime and manga club! This is the perfect opportunity to meet other Otaku in the area and make new friends. The activities include showing your favorite manga or graphic novels, watching anime, and talking about why we love them. As our club grows we are hoping to add other fun activities. Perks include a discount price on ordering manga and graphic novels through the Decatur Public Library, and sharing your Otaku ways with the rest of us. Oh, and there will be snacks.

Now, there are a couple of things that are Library Law. If you are under the age of thirteen, you will need a signed consent form from your parents. You may ask for one at the front desk at the Decatur Public Library. Miss Abby or Miss Denice will be most happy to help you.

If you are bringing any anime that you wish to show during our meetings, you must bring it into the library a few days before the meeting so that Miss Diane or Miss Denice can view it.

If this sounds like the club for you, then please join us. We hope to see you there!
