Circulation Services
How do I get a card?

  • Library cards are available free of charge to all Texas residents.

  • Prospective borrowers must provide proof of address in the form of a valid Texas Drivers License.

  • Minors under the age of 17 may have a card with the approval of a parent or legal guardian.

What can I check out?
The Decatur Public Library provides a wide range of materials available for checkout including books, videos, DVDs, audio books, libros en espanol, and large print books. Patrons may borrow up to six (6) books per card and four (4) videos or DVDs per household.

How much are fines?
Fines are .20 per day per book or audio book and $1.00 per day per video or DVD. 

How long can I check items out?
All books and audio books are checked out for a two weeks. Videos and DVDs are checked out for three (3) days. 

Can I renew?
Books, audio books, and nonfiction videos may be renewed when there is no waiting list. You may renew items in person, by phone, or here.

Reference Services
The Library has reference materials and librarians available to provide reference assistance. 

Internet Access and Computer Services
The Library offers free access to computers with Microsoft Office products, games, and Internet access to patrons, on a first come first served basis. Please limit your time to an hour if others are waiting. 

It is important to note that information available on the Internet cannot be monitored or controlled by library staff. Internet users must accept  responsibility for their choice of sites and the possible content thereof.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult while using the Internet. Responsibility for the child's internet usage resides with the parent or legal guardian.

Printing is allowed at a cost of $.20 per page. 

Texshare Databases
Texshare Databases include resources from more than 4.700 magazines, scholarly publications, and newspapers. These resources are accurate, current, authoritative, and provide full-text articles from verifiable, subscription-only sources.The information that is available through the Texshare Databases IS NOT available on the Internet. 

Access to the Texshare Databases requires a login and password available from your library.

Other Services
The Library has popular magazines and newspapers and a cozy reading area. The Library also offer interlibrary loan services.

The Library has a public fax machine, a color photocopier, a die cut machine, and a laminating machine services are also available. There is a minimal charge associated with some of these services.

Toddler Time

18 months to 3 years)
Wednesday at 11:00 am
Thursday at 11:00 a.m.
followed by a stay and play social time for toddlers and their parents

Mother Goose Time
(
4- 18 months)
Thursday at 10:00 am
followed by a stay and play social time for infants and their parents
